After sixteen years since his last exhibition in Milan, Nico Vascellari takes over the Sala delle Cariatidi at Palazzo Reale, an emblematic space of destruction and rebirth. His work engages with the scars of history, connecting them to contemporary crises and envisioning new imaginaries for regeneration.
Built on a continuous tension between solemnity and lightness, the visual identity we created for Pastorale features a rigorous typographic composure in stark contrast to the Boop—playful yet mysterious creatures that conceptually inhabit the underground of the exhibition and come to life in communication materials.
The Boop, nine figures that are both whimsical and almost mystical, clearly bring an element of surprise, disorder, and ambiguity. Their presence acts as a disruptive force: breaking the institutional visual rhetoric and opening an ironic breach that makes the experience more accessible, yet no less intense.
