A micro-monument to the linguistic slop built in the summer of 2025. Generated as a response to that millennial feeling of perpetual nostalgia revamped by the 7th installment of the Jurassic franchise, this project explores the intersection of consumer electronics, artificial intelligence, and cultural commentary.
Built around an ESP32 microcontroller, a solar cell, and a small OLED screen, D.A.M.N explores what happens when language models shrink to absurd proportions. Trained on fragments of Italian internet slang and Brainrot memes, it speaks in broken loops, an echo of machine learning stripped of ambition.
Encased in translucent resin and powered by sunlight, it becomes a small fossil of computation: alive enough to glitch, too simple to matter. It questions usefulness, celebrates failure, and finds charm in malfunction. Like Munari’s “useless machines,” it exists only to exist, hallucinating softly under the sun, muttering nonsense in a language already forgetting itself.
